A new 2018 show for you today. This is the 16th and last concert of the 2018 Tour of Asia & Oceania and the 42nd of the year.
Bob is on fire, proving everyone he is still a master. He even made headlines with this new set, with a Rolling Stone article: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/bob-dylan-2018-set-list-live-716633/
This year we are marking the 30th anniversary of the Never Ending Tour, Bob constant touring around the world since Concord, CA, June 7th 1988. In 30 years, Bob radically changed his style and voice multiple times, releasing 14 studio albums (from Down In The Groove to Triplicate), and playing almost 3000 concerts.
Bob is finally shaking-up the set, offering some of his best songs to an adoring audience. From the usuals like Things Have Changed to the new additions to the set like Gotta Serve Somebody, we have a real treat here. But the best thing is of course the grand return, after so many years of two Highway 61 Revisited classics. It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry is back after 13 years as a very heavy blues, adding new depths to a more than 50 years old tune.
And of course there is LIKE A ROLLING STONE. You know it as the best song of all-time (according to Rolling Stone Magazine), Bob has stopped playing it regularly since 2012, sometimes singing it on very rare occasions (notably during the second Desert Trip show in 2016). Now we have a glorious version, with new arrangement with slow passages, and the ever-incredible Tony Garnier bowing the Double-Bass in great fashion. This show is sure to become a classic night for all Dylan fans and bootleggers. I cannot recommend it enough, it is truly a tour de force, and I hope all the shows in North America are of the same quality.
